Welcome to the 2017 “Healthy Living Eating Pono (HELP)” a project created by Ms. Sheff from Kealakehe High School. This program is a cross collaboration Project which involves all departments of the Career Technical Education (CTE) program called “Healthy Living Eating Pono (HELP)”.
The HELP project was created to develop partnerships with public and private industries, providing opportunities for students interested in tangible learning and professional standards in various industries. Students research and develop real-life skills and academic learning to become career and college ready. Pono Grindz food truck at Kua Bay is headed by Chef Mike, a part-time teacher with Kealakehe Culinary program, and works in partnership with Kealakehe High School Culinary students. CTE students on campus collaborate developing healthy food specials for Pono Grindz, analyze sales trends, food costs, and continuously are involved in product development. CTE students on campus are also working on the HELP food van to go into the community to teach about healthier living and eating. The HELP project’s intention is to ultimately allow Kealakehe students to become the ambassadors for healthy changes in West Hawaii. We have created a bold vision for the future of our culinary students and the community.
